Nice shot and 26 shot stack looks good. At a guess I'd say that this painted lady was one from last year, but unsure if they hibernate, colour is dull compared to what I've seen.

:agree: The second photo is an interesting angle.

Two cracking shots. I struggle to get them to stay still long enough to get one shot so congratulations on your patience to set up and get stacked shots.
 
Edit on my earlier post, these butterflies do migrate every year back to West Africa and of course return to Northern Europe spring time ish. Flying at about 500 meters and at upto 30 mph.
 
Two really nice shots but the 2nd one is impressive for me. I'm sure they could feature in any magazine.

Very nice could you say what software you used?

For stacking I've used zerene stacker as this copes well with the (mis)-alignment of handheld stacks, and then tonemapping through photomatix to bring out the details
