Fog watching in Melbourne

Just a couple of quick ones from yesterday afternoon. Went for a walk down the beach and was greeted with a fairly rare occurrence - fog / mist in Melbourne.

The view from the pier looking back towards the city centre.

It was gone as quick as it arrived, but made a nice change to the usual weather down here (ie no freezing wind from Antarctica to deal with!).

I like the second one but feel that it looks moodier when cropped in to highlight the fog.
Have sailed a bit on Port Philip bay, good wind usually!

Agreed, though I don't mind this as a overview image with the city smaller in the frame - a bit more mysterious perhaps.

I shot a second frame zoomed in (digitally and cropped a bit further) which is up here. Being taken on the phone, doesn't stand up too well to being displayed anywhere besides Instagram though.

Well I'm gonna buck the trend here and say I really like the first one. I think the silhouette works really well

Both have their own appeal, hard to choose between them ... good opportunity well taken

Quite possibly. That would make it a more standard composition, I went back and forth between them, but decided I liked the gradation in tones in the lower part of the image in this case.
