I think that promotion finished at the end of September
That was with the X1-pro

Thanks Jeff, obviously extended it. I've been 'umming and 'arring. Still can't decide if I want this deal or an 18-55mm zoom.... or an X-Pro
All the lenses are great, and beat using a converted manual focus lens from a different system.
Im sure they are and id love the 18-55mm f2.8-4 but theyre very expensive, its not like I can cut back on the body either as the XE-1 is cheap at the minute!
Its the one thing putting me off
Have you handled both the X-E1 and X-Pro1 in a shop? I did that and it was immediately obvious I wouldn't be able to get on with the X-Pro1 viewfinder as it didn't have dioptric correction, so I got the X-E1 and am very happy with it. Other people really like the dual optical/electronic viewfinder of the X-Pro1, and that and size are the main (only?) differences between the cameras. But you can buy an dioptric correction lens for the pro,the thing with build in ones is sometimes they get knocked out,but with the screw in one for the pro don't.
I do think the XE-1 does fit better in my hands,i have very small hands
The problem for me was that switching between optical and electronic viewfinder modes changed the required correction - I've no idea why and neither did the shop assistant, but it wasn't going to work for me like that! With the X-E1 I can just set it at one place and leave it and everything's fine. And I like the smaller body size as well...
I hadn't realised the X-Pro had no dioptric correction - I had read about people buying Nikon diopters, but not questioned much why. Time to go hunt an X-Pro down me thinks!
Well I got a replacement 55-200 Lens.
For me (on both 55-200 lenses I've had) the focus is very fast with selective focus points but much much slower when using multi-point focus where the camera picks focus point. Could someone else with this lens put it at 200mm and check the difference in focus speed when using selective focus and multi point focus?
Cheers!
Hi Asa, Just checked my 55-200mm in response to your post. Sorry to tell you this but there's absolutely no difference whatsoever with focus speeds using the settings that you requested when using my gear.
Hope this helps.
George.
Thanks for checking,
I'm baffled now, there is a clear difference in focus speed for me. As its two different lenses on the same body I can only assume that its something to do with the body. I have the latest firmware installed and the focus is fine for the 18-55 lens

Just purchased an XE1, should be delivered tomorrow.
Been lurking on this thread as well as the OMD thread for awhile.
Downsizing from a 5D2 + L glass to something with similar IQ and a lot easier to carry around all day.

The only dilemma now is what lens to complement the 18-55mm with.
Either buy the 14mm or wait and see how the 10-24 turns out in December.
Maybe also a 35/1.4 for the nice bokeh

Talking about new lenses being released soon. Has anyone heard more about the 56mm prime lens?
Looking like January next year.
The 35 and the 14 are both lovely lenses. if I'm ever "going out with my camera" I'll take both and leave the zoom at home. Only time the zoom ever sees use is when I don't know what's happening (i.e. family days out!):

If I had to pick one, I'd go the 35mm to start with.
I did use to have the Sigma 10-20 (for my Canon DSLR) and worried that the 14 would reduce my options, but to be honest I haven't noticed it at all.

Having a look at the 14mm flickr group,I think it's going to be the 14mm,but my fav lens is still the zoom, carry it everywhere with me
The 14 mm is a fantastic lens, super sharp.
