Fuji XF27mm and filters - (anything else fuji related)

I'm posting this thread specifically to determine if it is possible to add a polarising filter to the 27mm pancake lens. I'm about to take this combo holiday and I'm struggling to find a suitable step up ring for a normal sized polarising filter. Has anybody come across a work around for this dilemma?

eBay is full of 39mm to 52mm step up rings and all the big brands make 52mm filters.

Just be careful that any step-up ring doesn’t foul the movement of the front element. To avoid this buy a cheap 39mm UV filter and remove the glass to create a spacer.

Now that you mention this I seem to recall using one once before with an adapter ring, but the lens struggled to focus. I'll simply have to invest in a 23mm f2 lens, but then I'll lose the compactness. Or, I could change system (again) to Canon with their 22mm f2. Assuming that's an STM lens, I doubt it will have the same problem. Or perhaps an x100
