After dealing with Grays for over 25 years, I finally made the pilgrimage to the store on Tuesday, what a store, I was met by Xam, who I've talked to on the phone and chatted to through Instagram.

I'd gone to pick up a couple of there new Beenie hats, but ended up buying a 18-140 Z lens for my Z50, I'm off to Croatia soon, and didn't think the 16-50 would be long enough, so now I'm pretty sure I've got the travelling camera and lenses that will suit my needs.

I was shown around the second hand section, I did get tempted by quite a few very nice items, I'm lucky I left my gold card at home, otherwise I'd have come home with more than I did.

I'm planning another trip to London very soon, hopefully next time I visit, Gray will be in the store.

Glad you enjoyed it Geoff. I visited them a few years ago and was treated like absolute s***. Totally less than interested in offering any kind of service or barely any kind of acknowledgement.

Missus has banned me from ever buying anything from them, and I'm happy to stick with that - I find them the most expensive outlet of Nikon gear anyway!

I have found them to be very aloof and not very helpful when i contacted them about an online item and a discount code that didn`t work. Glad you had a positive experience face to face though i can only imagine the temptation :)

I suppose I'm lucky that I've known Gray for many years, I actually haven't spoken to him in a while, but he's probably the most knowledgeable person I know for anything Nikon.

I'm also in contact with 3 of the staff, who I chat with on a regular basis, even when there not in the store.

Price wise, I find them pretty competitive, but they will price match, as long as the item is in stock at the other dealer and is genuine Nikon UK stock, plus being a Nikon Owner magazine subscriber, everything I purchase comes with a 3 year warranty, instead of Nikons 1 year warranty.

I know the store isn't for everyone, as it's not a store you just go to for a browse, but after being a customer for over 25 years, I've never had a reason to complain.

I've found any dealings with Grays to be an absolute pleasure. That second hand section downstairs is just something to behold. I've been there twice now and met Gray himself the first time. A true gent.

I haven't spoken to him for a while, he's always been fine with me, infact I've had no reason from any of the other staff to stop me from being a customer of there's.
