I think the technique works well on the plane, not sure about the clouds, maybe a little too dark. There's also a halo effect around the plane, nose top surface etc.

Did you contrast mask? If so that can be taken out by using the burn tool on highlights at around 10% on the mask layer

Works here too. The warm underside really sets it off.

Would a light warming filter help balance the colours?

It looks like its off a different plane. Like the rest of the shot but not the wings

alas I too seem to be in the minority on this one.........

not really a fan of HDR in the first place.....makes it look more like a PS3 game IMO, rather than a photo.

To me, the underside of the wings don't look correct. Just my opinion........

I like it not keen on the dark areas in the cloud though, think they're a bit TOO dark
