Hello, all.
I live half the time in Cheshire & half the time in Somerset, due to a complicated work life.
I'm new to photography, although I've been taking snaps for years, I'm new to being serious about photography & wanting to take it up as a hobby & steadily improve.
I've always had an appreciation of good photography & admired those who can present an image that makes you look right in to it, and even better, the images that make you think. I attended an exhibition of my late grandfathers photography from the 1950's, and surprised myself in being really proud of this man who'd passed away just before I was born. I came away with photography whirling round in my head & it wasn't letting up, so I bought some photography books first of all. I enjoyed reading them & found myself spending hours online mainly looking at photo journalism images by Cartier Bresson, Gordon Gordon Parks & Anders Petersen. I also got consumed by the portrait photo's from the 60's by Bailey, Duffy & Donovan.
I've quickly become incredibly enthusiast about photography. With what seems to be one foot in the street photography camp & the other in the portrait camp. I also am lucky enough to work with an incredible wildlife photographer who's images have been used to illustrate several books.
I hope learn from people on the forum and enjoy being a member of the community here.
Thank you.
