Following on from this thread, mate of mine came round around late last night for me to have a 2nd go with my new lights/background bought last week.

Concentrated mainly on head and shoulder shots, some with 70-200VR and some with Sigma 50mm f/1.4 - still experimenting with the position and power levels of the lights, not to mention the camera settings - but got a few that I'm happy with!

C&C welcome (please!)...

no.2 and no.4 for me

no.2 has a different angle and crop. the mono works very well and the pose also. probably my fave

no.4 is captured well and pose is good. only thing is the spill of light onto side of his face and also the slight sheen on forehead.

nice shots amazing actually for a home studio!

No5 is the stand out shot for me in this series. Great expression, composition and lighting. I know there are a few hot spots on the face, but i think thats half of the reason why this shot works so well, especially against the contrast of the shadow around the eye. Pin sharp too!!!

Excellent work

No 5 for me, I would probably just dodge his eye a tad, so there is more of an even colour :D

I was thinking the same. Good pose and nice shot but that dark patch next to his eye is a bit offputting. Some subtle dodging should cure it but next time maybe move the light down or have a reflector low down to catch some light.

No 5 for me, lovely tight crop. I think I would try to do something about the shadow in his eye. (if I could learn how to!)

Another good set of shots Phil.

Number 2 is my favourite...although I'm a sucker for black & white images. ;)
