good central focus... but depth of field not deep enough in my opinion- too much of the entire frame is distorted for me-

I'm afraid that that is about as good as I can get it at this magnification!
I was down to a tiny f20, my flash isnt powerful enough to light a smaller aperture and focus stacking is out of the question with this busy chap....
