Ok so i want to buy a teleconvertor but i dont know what size i want 1.4 or 2.0.

It will be paired up with my Sigma 150mm Marco and my 100-300mm f4 for the majority of the time. I am thinking of renting the 1.4 to see what its like but im not really sure on which one to go for.

Is there any significant loss in quality with using either convertor?

Don't forget that a 1.4x teleconverter will lose you 1 stop of light. The F4 will become F5.6 and anything more than that, you will probably lose autofocus on the 400D (check what the sensitivity is of the sensors).

I would go for the 1.4, ive had one and used on both the 150mm and 100-300, its works extremely well on both lenses.

Did you have the sigma 1.4 or the canon 1.4?

The Canon teleconvertors will not work with most of your lenses,

Pete

Go for the sigma x1.4, it'll turn your 100-300 into a 140-420mm f/5.6, if you add a x2 converter you'll get more length, but lose the ability to autofocus. There's a slight loss of quality, but it's worse with the x2!

:agree: but mine was Nikon fit siggies (ex apo's at that)

I have both the 1.4 and 2x Sigma TC's which I use with my 150-500

This was with the 2X
