Keeping company with the finches, but more the size of a Goldfinch than the Chaffinches

Blue tit and goldfinch amongst the same twigs - all in a few minutes to give idea of scale.

Id say a female Bramling, Phil.

Agree with J. Definately Brambling. These are some better shots of yours(y)(y)(y) Quite sharp.

I noticed a male Brambling sitting in a tree with some chaffinches a year or two ago

Very nice series FM ... (y) ... although one or two seem to be a little over-processed they are still pretty good ... ;)

:p

Thanks for help and comments - Ven you are right as usual - had the lot off the card and uploaded in a few minutes so was not watching sharpening levels and hitting "auto" in curves! Second new species in the garden this year, so pleased to spot this little lady visitor. All taken in the space of a few minutes and could have added great tit, sparrows, starlings, dunnocks and blackbirds as well as the odd dove at the same time, so realise how fortunate i am compared to some folk trying to get birds to visit.
