Insect inside 5D

Somehow a dead insect has found its way into my 5D (I presume it was still alive when it went in). I think it's stuck behind the focus screen or somewhere up in the viewfinder as it's not appearing in pictures. Is it safe to remove the focus screen and if so how do I do it? Frightened the bleedin' life out of me when I first saw it and it's really disconcerting when shooting a wedding to see the creature rattling around in the viewfinder.

If you've got one in the viewfinder and it's still alive the best plan is probably to put the camera in a dark room with a table light on and hope it will crawl towards the light and exit.

Just to be on the safe side, I would sit and watch to make sure it has gone.

;)

PS. I think mine must have died.

I had one as well! What the he** do they find to eat in there!

It must be mirror box grease. Canon was really generous with it, particularly on the 1Ds as it is their most expensive camera
