Hi,

Has anyone shopped online with Jessops since they went 'kaput'? I'm looking at buying a lens online from them.

Many thanks

Tom

I ordered my Nikon D600 online from then and collected inshore. Also got a tasty 4% Quidco cash back as well as the £150 Nikon cash back. Cant complain at all.

I ordered a 100d from them on Thursday. Site advertises free next day delivery on items ordered before 5pm. My order was completed at 1642 hrs and I needed the item next day (Friday) before going on holiday on the Saturday. I could have ordered from Amazon, but I thought I'd like to support the new venture as the price was similar. The item was not marked as dispatched until Friday 10am and when I rang at 4pm I was told that my order had not actually been processed until after 6pm the previous evening so had missed the deadline for next day delivery and the camera would not arrive until Monday. Very miffed as I could have ordered from elsewhere or even collected from their Birmingham store if they had informed me about the problem. After cancelling the order I have to wait until Parcelforce have attempted delivery, failed and then returned the item before I get a refund.

Have emailed them my complaint recommending they amend their website so they do not make promises they are unable to keep. Not a good first impression.

Didn't someone rescue them? I was in a store at the weekend, everything seemed normal

peter jones aka dragons den......... they never learn though prices still too expensive

You can't expect Jessops to match grey import prices but they will price match genuine UK stock from genuine UK suppliers.

Jessops said:
Who will we match?

We match the UKs leading specialist camera retailers as they are authorised retailers of the brands they stock which means it is genuine UK stock and not 'grey' import products*, they sell direct (not via marketplaces or auction sites) and most importantly offer a comparable level of service to Jessops

Argos
Currys
John Lewis
Park Cameras
PC World
Warehouse Express
Call our UK Sales Line on 0844 3303319 to check the price of your chosen product.

Price Match conditions: We can only match like for like items (including brand, model and kit variants), that are in stock and available for immediate delivery/collection from a listed competitor. The competitors price must be available to all customers and include all applicable delivery charges. The competitor price must exclude any VIP, affiliate cashback, membership or personal discounts. Price matching cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or discount. If you would like us to match multiple items please contact us or call us on 0844 3303319 * Grey import products are products that are sourced from a foreign market outside of the UK

Bought my manfrotto 190xprob from there a week ago, reserved online, cheapest anywhere I could find, especially with a 5% tripod discount code, and staff were brilliant. It's usually my luck to have trouble ordering stuff... :/

to clinch a deal you should be undercutting competitors not matching ! especially when shops are within 50 yds of each other like they are where i live. no discounts what so ever.......... but we will price match !!!!

They're not expensive on everything. Their price on the Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS USM II beats most UK suppliers & is the same as amaz0n.

It's the same with any item, you have to shop around. Prices change on a daily basis.

Precisely, cant understand how people expect UK sellers to match HK sellers. :wacky:

where in this thread did any body say they need to match grey import sellers, or have i missed something ! i spoke about matching prices and discounts !

I've just bought a Lowepro camera backpack from the Jessops website

They had a 15% off discount code and free next day delivery

Bag came yesterday and was a lot cheaper than other camera gears websites

They get a (y) so far from me!

What you've got to remember about Jessops is that they have an infrastructure and staff to pay for. If you want to get up close and personal with gear you've got to remember there is a cost attached to having physical stock in a branch. So if you go into Jessops have a play with a body or lens then buy from HK or the net - it wont be long before Jessops will close ( again ) and you wont be able to visit the store to have a play before you buy.
So if you want a High Street with no specialist shops keep buying on the net - but don't moan when you cant touch or get personal advice before you buy. Once the High street is totally dead then the net retailers will have control over prices and supply then you can really moan.
Price is not everything

I got the 5% tripod discount from camerapricebuster, but I believe it's just "tripods5" in the "redeem voucher" part of the checkout.

I bought a Panasonic FZ200 on-line. As it was a present, the delivery address was not my own. Jessops phoned me promptly to check that it wasn't a fraudulent sale and then delivered within their promised time slot.

So it was good service, the only drawback was they don't use paypal

Pricing was competitive and they offered a free bag
