The reason I'm asking for critique please is because I've tried a different process route on this picture to bring out the feather detail in the darker areas, the original is below :)

if you had dialled in a bit o +f exposure compensation
you would have probably got the same result without any ps
 
Whatever you have done has worked pretty well, there is good detail in the feathers particularly in the chest area, I do feel though there is a bit more to be had from the image by some selective lightening of the head and neck area, the all important eye area still looks a tad dark. Just my view, feel free to ignore and of course others may disagree.

I'll never ignore a genuine helpful comment Paul, or an opinion either, I will have another go tomorrow at the head and eye, I've just got in from photographing Chatsworth House firework display :)
