Sometimes they bash the fish a bit to hard.

Thanks for looking.

Wonderful shots Marty. The colours are amazing!
One of my photographic ambitions is to catch one of these birds and there is a location close by to my house where they can be found.

Care to share any tips on how best to capture them, e.g. stealth approach, ideal lighting, camera settings etc.

many thanks!

Cracking stuff as usual Martin  The lighting and shadows in #1 and #2 make them stand out slightly from #3 imo.

Three fine images Martin. The first has lovely light to show off the colours.

Thanks Stuart.
Tips, try to arrive before they do, a hide will help, a position with great light would be good, put out some perches in above fish in about 6" of water if possible, and wait and wait. Dial in some -ev depending on light to avoid blowning the white bits.

Good luck.

Thanks all for your comments:)

Another great set of shots

These are superb. Love the lighting just enhancing the blues. Beautiful work.

Excellent shots - dont suppose you would like to share the location would you?

All sharp and tidy. Number 1 is the pick for me personally, the contrasting colours and composition of the shot.
Well done Martin keep them coming.
Regards
Paul.
