That really works, is that bleach bypass in mono ?

Hi Nick, Thanks. Not a filter. A conversion to b+W in lightroom, with some toning down of white areas.
I'm trying to avoid filters until i've learnt about basic stuff.

I've been messing around with some of the photos I took whilst on holiday on Crete last year and have come up with a set of black and whites. The first 5 are of the abandoned former leper colony on Spinalonga island, which I thought was a subject particularly suited to b/w and the last 2 are of a little church just outside Elounda.

Nice one Neil! I'm not usually a fan of b&w flowers, but that has a really abstract quality to it. Good use of light and contrast!
