When taking close ups of wet and slimy creatures, how can I eliminate the blown highlights / flash back on these subjects?

Are you using a flash gun/speed light?

If so you need a diffuser on the top of it...

The one I have in my links is good, though there are several variations of different types... Only thing with the one I have is that it is not small...

BTW.. yor pic is great!

Put a diffuser on your flash, cut up some old milk bottles and get some sellotape!

I find a couple of layers of tissue can be quite effective, held in place by a rubber band or two
