Lowepro slingshot for D90 with battey grip?

Hi all,

Just got a battery grip for my D90 and realise that it will no longer fit in my slingshot 100 now. Does anyone know if any of the slingshots can cope with a D90 with a battery grip attached?

Or can someone suggest another alternative for a similar style?

My slingshot 202 fits my 450D with grip no problems. Don't know if that helps you sizewise?
 
Same here, just got one for Christmas, d5100 is lost in their.

Again don't know how much it helps. But I can give you sizes if that helps. ?
 
D90 w/o grip 132 x 103 x 77 mm (5.2 x 4.1 x 3.0 in)
450d w/o grip129 x 98 x 62 mm (5.08 x 3.86 x 2.44")

Can't see the grips being that different in size so I would've thought a 202 would be fine.
 
Thanks all, appreciate the responses.

What other options would you consider if not a slingshot? Like my 100, but wonder if there are any other decent options out there?

A photo of the inside with your gear in it would be appreciated Scott. I've tried the 100AW which was no good with my D3100 and 55-300 attached. Pondering over the 202 but don't want to make another mistake ;)

I put my D700 with battery grip and various other bits in a slingshot 302AW perfectly well. It's actually for sale in the classifieds at the moment ;0)

Already got a backpack style bag though, just looking for an over-the-shoulder type thing really.

I used to use the Slingshot 200 with my gripped D90 and Tamron 28-75 lens without any problem.

sorry its not great, found it hard to take the pic and get the camera :thinking: in the bag as well.

so gave up and used my phone :bonk:

this is with a taron 17-50, to the right is a 35mm and a 18-200.

i think the aw202 is great, perfect size for me, cam, sb600 flash in the top and 35mm, tamron 17-50 with hood attached and a 18-200 with room to spare.

i also looked at the 100, thought it looked a little small.

i did look at lots, but didn't want anything to bulky, and this seems just right (for now)

The one thing is, I am very new to this, so more experienced people might find problems.

But for me I can't fault it, acts as a nice steady when flipped round the front.

The only thing is, no room for anything else, no personal stuff barely even a drink, but I don't worry, theirs plenty falling from the sky daily. :bonk:

The lack of roiom for other stuff is disappointing. Although there is a small compartment st the top it doesn't hold very much. So I'm still not convinced.
Haviung said that, none of the bags I've been looking at have much, if any, room for anything other than the camera gear. I don't want to go the huge rucksack route so the lack of extra room is something I shall have to live with. Bags on my list (some discontinued, so only available used): Flipside 200, Slingshot 202, Mini Trekker, Urban Sling 150, Tamrac Adventure 73.

For me it was nothing more than just having my equipment in one bag, so I can pick it up and go.

Having space for anything else was never a factor.

I just wanted something small enough not to be a burden.

Thanks for the time and effort on the photos Scott - helps a lot!

Not too worried about the top area for keeping stuff in as I have a rucksack if I want to go the full hog, just after something that can carry the camera with grip addon and a lens or 2 as well. Actually found on the 100 that I can fit in some ND grad filters and holders in it, so was surprised :)

Will also take a look at the other ones you mention Al, thanks for your list.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no perfect bag for everyone - certainly not for me anyway!

Have decided to go for the Lowepro Flipside 200. Looks to be quite compact and whilst probably not as easy to use as a normal backpack does offer good security for the contents. A sling bag for me might be a problem as I do have problems with my neck so hopefully spreading the load between two shoulders won't cause additional problems. Have just put a wanted ad in just in case there is one available here before buying new.
