Manual Reset

My pop up flash on my 400d has stopped popping up when used in auto mode, im not sure why??? Anbody??? Was wondering if you can reset the camera back to factory settings manually to see it cures the problem, i was told you can dissable the flash in settings but ive looked and carnt find anything about it...................

Is it dark enough for the flash? Does it 'click'?

yes its plenty dark enough, doesnt even click.

Been a while since I used the 40D, but I think it was the menu with the spanner at the top that had the flash setting, look down the menu and you should see a setting for the flash, and make sure its enabled.
If the flash does not pop up there is a little button just above the lens release button that will do it for you if you are like me and rarely use the flash.
