Matrix is the horse of a friend of my other half. I don't think he had seen a camera before as he was quite interested (or concerned) about it.

I would have used a smaller aperture to get the whole animal in focus as the body appears a little soft, If that was your intention then I apologise

It was intentional but I'm not sure it's worked. The crit seems to confirm that.
