Mental Asylum pt II (warning img heavy)

Lovely stuff - those are some creepy photos- love the broken piano ones the best. Those service tunnels must have been frightening in the dark - cudos to you for bringing us these images (y)

WOW

WOW

WOW.

Stunning. Simply stunning.
:clap::clap:

What a waste of a fantastic looking building though.

Thanks guys :)

I'll bump this thread once I get the pictures of the cells, they are the main attraction, after all. Gutted I missed them the first two times.

Stunning images, Yet slightly disturbing. The actual place would play on my mind to much to visit but well done for getting in all of the nooks and crannys.

I really like these pics & also the ones from part 1.

The first thing i thought was that they wouldnt look out of place in a
horror game like Resident Evil or Silent Hill.

Thanks for sharing & i look forward to part 3 (y)

great work and well done on your sale!! keep it up but stay safe!! :)

ps, love the "change" one, that wall looks amazing!

Brilliant set (and I dont say that very often).

There are a few I'd discard, but not many.

In this set you have shown a very good eye and ken. Top marks.

Great set what the processing thats done to these other than HDR I've seen quite a few of this type of shot processed in a similar way and would like to learn how!

These are very good. I've really enjoyed looking through them. You've captured the atmosphere as I would imagine it to be. The colours, light and textures and subject work really well. I can see why you've sold no3. Don't mean to sound artyfarty but I couldn't help but think that the images kinda represent something of mental health and the mind, i.e-the building was designed for a good purpose but now for many reasons doesn't function as it was designed to. Some find it creepy and eerie while others find it fascinating. Anyway, enough of my inane late night rambles.
Nice one!

Absolutely stunning........

Any shot (s) that make me feel any kind of emotion is a great one as far as I'm concerned, and every one of those did.

I'd dearly love to visit somewhere like this, although I would deffo shat myself

Really creeped me out looking at some of these. Those with writing on the wall were disturbing. The HDR stuff of the piano and the other initial shots are very good. The one with the stark long corridor was great you really captured an eerie atmosphere and mood. Really like the whole set. You're very brave to go there on your lonesome. Scared me looking at them by myself

Absolutely f***ing gorgeous pictures :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:- including HDR done with a point and done well.

Do you mind if I copy some of them off the web to put in my college course logbook?

Meanwhile still filled with admiration that you have the courage to go in and photograph such places :police: :runaway: :exit: for the rest of us armchair voyeurs to enjoy...

I have just realised this is the 3rd time i have looked at this set and thought 'WOW!'

i really like most of the shots and the gritty feel to them. has given me the inspiration to go exploring myself.

thanks for sharing. (y)

Wow, I never expected such a postive response to my pictures, I really appreciate all the kind words, it's a great confidence boost.

Thanks again, I'm really happy you enjoyed the set.

What is a college course log book, do you mind explaining?

I'm doing a degree in photography by distance learning. As part of the course, you keep a log book of exhibitions you've seen or pictures that really inspire you. It's to show your inspiration and how you develop ideas for pictures and what helps you decide on a style.

I keep it as an A5 notebook that will only be seen by me and my examiners.

These are excellent. I don't think I'd have it in me to go through there alone though :p.

Wow - just an echo of what everyone else has said really - an amazing and descriptive set of photographs! Very well taken and processed in a way which heightens the atmosphere of them.
You are very brave! I went to an old prison in Pennsylvania and that was pretty eerie in broad daylight with loads of tourists there so this must have been something else!
What was it that interrupted you and meant you had to leave if you don't mind me asking? Were you there at night?

Oh, that's cool, yeah no problems. Can you put my name on the pictures so I can get a little exposure, too?

I'm honoured that you would include my pictures in your book.

Thanks, the interruption came in the form of a security guard escorting me off the premises two hours after I'd got there. The second day I snuck back in, I was interrupted again by getting completely lost in the maze of buildings and not being able to figure out how to access the padded cells via the pitch black underground service tunnels. There's loads of them from what I can tell, and I only had my measly camera flash to guide me. I didn't have the battery power to continue on.

Taking a torch next time. The set doesn't feel complete, I think it will once I get the padded cells.

Absolutely love `em mate, creepy atmosphere on those pics is ubelievable. Really great set, love no.4 most, could you just briefly describe post processing on that one? Really like that kind of unreal look on it.

Cheers

As others have said... just-WOW...
Awesome set!
I like all of them,but 2 and 4 in particular i love.
Now-The important question...
What exactly do you use to get that "Mirror Shine" on the huge pair of Brass erm .."Spheres" you clearly posses?-Not a place id want to be alone!

PS. For anyone thinking of visitng remeber the moto...Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints

...and dont send the pics to the BBC!!!

excellent set , cant wait to see the final set

No problem at all - good work deserves recognition. See PM to ask for your actual name!

Awesome set :D I love these sort of sets, except theres nothing round here that I know of.

Terrific set of images - feel as if they should go with a magazine article (certainly good enough).
