Milky Way Panorama

Hi Guys

It was a lovely clear night a few nights back so headed up on the downs to get a few Milky Way shots, but decided to do a pano instead.

Shame there was so much light pollution

So here it is, any tips on how to improve it would be greatly appreciated.

Not really up on photographing the night sky but I like this one.

Just been out up the hill with my dogs (rural Perthshire) and there are a zillion stars on show.

I must give it a try.

Great shot To bring out the Milky Way you need to increase contrast and boost whites, this can be done in PS, layering and masking etc.

Hi Michael,

Love the composition and as HCK said, your image can be improved with PP just by tweaking the levels of contrast.

As you have yes to editing ticked I have done a very quick example, but time and patience could do much better. I just hope it isn't degraded too much by compression.

I had allready pumped the contrast quite high for my photo, as for me your edit is too dark. but i guess thats personal taste.

Great shot Michael, the Milkway looks almost like an arch or a rainbow-of-stars! Looks fantastic on the 2000px version - even better on your original I bet!

A great night shot - the pano has worked well. The pp is fine - if you want to build on your experience then look for a more interesting foreground subject. I select my subjects in daylight making a note of which way is south etc and look how I could frame up the shot when a good dark night comes along. Hope this helps
