hi
i have been looking at a minolta 5200i flash gun but i was not sure whether it would fit my sony a350 and if it did all the functions would work?

I gave my old Minolta Dynax 35mm camera, lenses and flash to a friend for his a200, and they worked fine. so hopefully yours will too.

The minolta 5200i flashgun will only work in manual mode on the sony alpha range.

oh ok. does that mean all minolta flash guns can only work in manual on my camera?

I'm not 100% but i'd have thought so. You'd better of getting a dedicated sony flashgun. I do know for certain though, that the 5200i only works in manual mode.

There are Minolta flash units which will work fully on a Sony. As I mentioned in your other thread, dyxum.com is a good resource for Sony/Minolta flashes, lenses, etc.
You should be careful using older flash units on digital cameras, some have trigger voltages that can be too high for digital cameras.
