I can normally tell instantly if a shot looks better in mono but i'm struggling with this one as I love them both......

Colour

Fin colour

Mono

Fin mono

Would love to hear thoughts?

My thought is the B&W image, I feel the red cap and t shirt grab the eye in the colour image but in the B&W image your sons face is the centre of interest.

Another vote for the b&w, it stands out then the colour one.

Thanks everyone, I'm leaning more towards the mono version too, although I have a fondness for the colour too....

I believe B&W is generally regarded as more timeless and so is good for portraits - especially of kids - but I think the conversion regarding the face is a bit 'grungy' (not a look I personally like) so it almost looks as though he has a ?7 o'clock shadow. so .... B&W for me too but moderated a bit:)

I prefer the colour one. He has a lovely cheerful smile and the bright colours seem to add to the happy feel. Also the Spider-Man hat to me is an important part of the photo, it is one of the reasons he is happy (just guessing), but in B&W it looks more like a boy wearing a flat cap.
