The second photo is the better of the two but the lens flare is really distracting. The first shot is crying out for some serious depth of field for the style of shot its been composed as. Sadly a mobile phone camera just isn't capable of pulling the first shot off as artistically as you probably want it.

Thanks for the comments, it was a surprise competition if I'd know it was going to be a photographic competition I would have taken the Canon

I do like the idea but I do also think as has been said the equipment has not helped you get the most from this situation

Yeah, It was a bit of a surprise so I didn't have either of my camera's with
