Not a fan of the blue pic,i prefer the red pic...there's a sort of apocalyptic look to it,almost like a natural disaster has just taken place,and its heading towards the camera, nice job

"red sails in the sunset" perhaps

i have drifted away from this excellence recently and am guddling along with postcard type shots..
perhaps now i am a bit inspired to follow your lead

Still remember another version of this where the pipe led to a beautiful sunset and the ship seemed an accessory - that was still I think the best of the bunch

Normally just play around, however, pointers
Shot given HDR treatment in Photomatix and then just used Hue slider in Photoshop to change colour(Image, Adjustments, Hue & Saturation, Hue).
Hope that helps. Good luck with it.
