My go at the malcolm wison

Love no 10 the white escort

I hope you were using a zoom and not a 50mm as it looks a dangerous place to stand

Though you did get the shot, it's the stand out shot for me

errrrr my 18_55 kit lens, i have blown it up a bit but i was close to the action, glad you like it,
thanx
Dave

Well if "shots wernt the best tho," you must be a very fussy person. You've got the action which,to me, is what it's all about. Really like 9

thanx verry much, i,m not really fussy, i just think my shots lack something, not sure what but i,m enjoying it and that,s whats important eh,
Thanx again,
Dave

David,
Think you have some decent stuff posted here. I really like the light in #2 just a shame the escort isn't a bit more sideways, or you would have had a great shot there.
I'm also a fan of the two Proton shots as well, i think with a little more contrast they could be really pleasing.
Just had a look on your Flickr, and I think I prefer a few shots on there to some that you have posted here. My only criticism would be that they are predominantly putting the car in the centre of the frame. I think you could go for some cropping action and make some good shots even better.
Whats the next rally for you up here? Borders?
Cheers

Thanx for looking, shot 2 was a slowish corner so there wasnt any sideways action going on, as for more contrast, thats rocket science to me !.
I,d like to no which flikr pics you like, i,m just learning and all comments and tips are really helpfull. I always try and keep the cars centeral, i take it i should be experimenting more eh,
again thanx for looking,
Dave

i think the borders is the next one we are going to, work comitments seem to dictate which events i can get to,
cheers
Dave

Nice set. Plenty of action in those photos with the flying dirt and great sense of speed.

thanx verry much, i,ll go through the rest , see if i think anymore are worth putting on

Dave,
from your flickr I think the panning shot of Perez is a good one, I like the low down perspective of the bimmer as well, works well
Do you do any post processing on these? on some of the wider shots i think you could crop a little from the corner and one side to make the shot feel a bit more dynamic maybe. You've got some good action captures, but i think they need just a bit of thought compositionally, and a touch of pp to bring the best out of them mate.

Matty,
to be honest i have p shopped a few speccies out, got rid of a few stray blades of grass and thats about it with my capabilities, i guess i need to do a bit more mucking about with it.
As for cropping, again i,m a bit green with it, not to sure what works and what doesnt, so it looks like a bit more trial and error eh, unless anyone can recomend a decent book or yutube guide.
Thanx verry much for taking the time to have a look and comment, its really helpfull and will no doubt guide me in the right direction, EVENTULY !,
thanx again
Dave

No worries, I'm sure there are loads of tutorials on photoshop or whatever programme you use on youtube etc.
Best thing I find is just to get a feel for the type of motorsport shots you like and try and break them down and find out why you like them. Then try and incorporate that into your shots. There's tonnes of guys on this forum that take amazing shots, and I could spend hours looking at some of the threads of the GT racing, rallying etc. Loads of different stuff to take in, and different approaches. Occasionally you can get some good feedback from the other members on here which helps you know whether you are on the right track or not.
Hope that helps mate.

wise words, all taken in, heres to the borders then eh,
cheers
Dave
