Nikkor 35mm lens

I have a Nikkor 35mm AF f2.0 lens. It is not an afd but looks exactly the same as one. Can anyone tell me if there is any optical difference between the two lenses, are they basically the same lens?

The -D denotes that it relays information to the camera as part of the Nikon iTTL lighting system. The one you have will not do that.

It is. The D lens just added some electrical gizmos to relay focus distance info to the metering computer.
