Been offered the above lens for 50 quid. Is it good lens for the price? At the moment I have a kit lens and 35mm prime. Is it something that I can replace my kit lens with?

Is it the VR one,at that price i would grab it.
As for fitting your camera it depend on your camera,it is a lens for an full frame camera,but will fit on an cropped camera but due to the 1x5 crop factor you will lose the wide angle side

Only have a d3100. Not sure if its the a vr version. Is it still worth it if it isn't?

Worth £170-180 if it's the non VR, excellent sharp lens

As above well worth,it will give you an mid wide wide angle to mid tele on an D3100.

36mm to about 130mm range
