Nikon 55-200 VR on ebay - £115 ?!?!

# Warranty Length: This product comes with 1 Year Warranty by seller.

i'd say that statement means it's an import, you take the risk that it may be drop shipped , ie he's selling within the UK but the item will be posted from the far east hence it not having a Nikon warranty and you could get hit for customs charges.

he has some negatives, have a look through them to see if some buyers have been stung with customs charges.

Good thought. I've been through more than 10 pages of feedback and only reached the 7th July. Seems the 'guy' is really shifting some gear.

Says UK postage will take 2 days. Are ebay guys usually pretty trustoworthy on this? I need the lens by friday!

Perhaps a good friend of Sue Shi, a raw fish enthusiast from the same 'unit'?!

Haha, i get the idea (y) - need to check feedback/credentials more. Can see the same lens for about a tenner more from a seller with 100% feedback.

Did you get this lens from that seller as I've just been looking at the same one?

This feedback response tells you all you need to know.

As well as another claiming he was shipped a refurbished item.

Cheers, I had read some of it but not that far down...what about this one and has 100% feedback, seems to be uk based?

it's up to you, no one can tell you who to buy from, we each have our preferences.
I myself prefer to put my money in my local retailers pocket, but I'm lucky I have a good local retailer who also happens to do good prices on kit.

If it seems to good to be true it usually is.
Just bought the same lens from Amazon for £140. Can't wait to get snapping!

it's grey import and, actually £125, that's £15 cheaper than Amazon...
You get what you pay for :)

somebody here [do a search] got a 55-200 AF-S VR from our "kerso" for £132

I was also looking on Amazon but thought I'd have a quick look on ebay first. Surely if that other link is UK based they need to include a warranty though

I PM'd him a week or so ago and he only has Canon stuff no Nikon :(

stand to be corrected here..................

eBay sellers can sell
1..refurbished stuff - they "say" it's done by Nikon .....who knows...

2...they buy in Nikon gear - sell it to you - this is a grey import
the Nikon warranty is invalid
so they offer you [say] 12 months but return to them
they send to where they purchased it from - you could be waiting weeks/months

your money = your choice
not many lens go belly up - if it does, you could be well screwed

Thanks for the info, makes sense not to get one from there just in case the inevitable happens! I'm gonna get this one on Amazon but as it's sold by a seller on there could that still be a grey import?

I couldn't see anything about warranty on there. I know if you buy through Amazon, you are protected to some degree, but that still doesn't stop the lens being a grey import. Also, as it's being sold through Amazon, rather than by Amazon, what happens when the company goes bump and you need the lens fixed under Warranty and Nikon aren't interested?

There's a reason why "legitimate" lenses cost more!

Which seller did you buy your lens from on Amazon?

I don't know which seller the OP got theirs from, but Wolu Digital have them for sale on Amazon for £140.95.

They also sell them here on eBay for £129.95 where, if you dig deep enough, they say that there is a 2 year seller provided warranty! Grey import!

Paul

If you google Wolu digtital theres lots of bad stuff about them

Yes I know, I always google a company I don't know of before using them and it don't read good. I don't mind buying a grey import but want to use a reputable company.
