I got one not to long ago and love it. I got annoyed with the kit lens pretty fast but I will be upgrading it soon enough
If you can live without the VR on the kit lens, Argos do it a fair bit cheaper. I done a lot of price checking and discovered this at the last minute.
The Tamron 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 Di (model A17) will auto focus.

My college uses canon and I was looking at the 1000d but I somehow prefer the Nikon even though it doesnt have as many focus point things the man in Jessops was talking about.
