As I'm getting on a bit my eyesight is a bit rubbish and I have to wear specs so trying to see the info in the viewfinder is a bit of a struggle and the small display on the top of my D80 pretty hard to see, particularly at night. Having borrowed a friends D300 last week I found the full display option on the the rear screen really useful. Do any other Nikons have the same facility?

d90 has it as above, so does the d40 (i had this) and d60 (as family has one)

does the d80 not have one? just press the 'info' button if you have one

Not on the D80, it started just after, but I think all new models now have it.

but wasn't the d40 out before the d80?

i think from memory on the d40 i could keep it on and switches off when focusing with the shutter button, but the d90 needs switching on and off

the sony a300 i had before was good as could have it on at all times and it has an automatic sensor next to eyepiece and switches off

Nope, when the D80 came out the D50 was still about and you could just about get your hands on new D70/s.

Interesting, I might consider the D90 rather than the D300.
