Opinion: Website

the about page has an <![endif]--> shown at the top left on IE9.

otherwise, very clean.

might be worth launching the Facebook etc into a new screen. otherwise your visitor may wander off and check their notifications at that point and forget your site.

also, get a facebook page rather than a friend page. puts people off.

Your home page title is 'Ben Gatley.' which isn't great for search engines, bookmarks, browser tabs (if you have more than one open) etc etc.

Otherwise I like the clean minimalist look as well.

Just noticed if you click through to the blog, there's no obvious way to get to the other parts of the site as the global navigation disappears...

Couple more minor things:

  • in the left hand menu, the menu link label 'photography' doesn't match the page heading of the page it links to ('collections')
  • the heading font size on the collections/photography page is smaller than that used on the 'about' and 'contact' pages

Not the end of the world but good websites are all about attention to detail :) (imo)

Not looked properly but I don't like the strike through of the title of the page you are on. Its already green so no need for the strike through to

strikethrough.PNG

But a nice clean looking site and no background music

Your 'commercial' section appears to contain wedding photography.

Edit: Also, probably best to tie your B&W photography in with whatever genre it belongs to. Nobody really 'checks out' someone's black and white photography in the same way they might check out your landscape or portraiture.
