For £352 incl delivery it comes with:
1. CANON 18-55mm IS LENS
2. Wide Angle Lens
3. 2X Telephoto Lens
4. UV Digital Filter
5. 8GB SDHC card
6. *Extra* Li-ion Battery
7. Camera Bag
8. SD Card Reader
9. 50 INCH Tripod
10. Lens Cleaning Kit
11. Mini Travel Tripod
12. LCD Screen Protector

Is this a good deal or is there a better model I should look for for that
price?
This will be used by the whole family so I hope it is sturdy!

Thanks!

Be aware that the camera is refurbished and only comes with a 3 month warranty by the seller, and no official Canon warranty.

Most of the extras are junk and add little value to the kit, personally I'd buy the camera new from a reputable seller, or see if you can buy second hand one from the forums on here.

The Canon 1000D is a great camera though, and would be an excellent choice

Thanks, I did not notice the refurnished part.

Any tips on where I can get the Kit for around £350? (Argos had it for £342 but they are out of stock :( )

Thanks :)

i luckily poaid 260 for mine in a sealed box off ebay including warranty, if you look around youll find a good one ;)

included 18-55 is kit lens

not at the moment sorry, its a great camera to learn with though its done me well so far :) just keep looking ull find a good deal

also , watch out for 1000d's selling with the non IS kit lens ;)

Yea, canon 18-55mm LENS (note no IS in the title). It was sold with the Canon 20/30D & 350/450 (& probably others as well).

Argos seem to have the NON IS version in stock for home delivery and in store for £342.59, item number 559/2829, however you might prefer to hold out for the IS version.

Yea, canon 18-55mm LENS (note no IS in the title). It was sold with the Canon 20/30D & 350/450 (& probably others as well).

And it was cack compared to the IS version! Expect to pay around £30 for a 2nd hand non-IS one but double that or more for an IS version.

Thanks for letting me know!!!

BTW in the Argos ad here:
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5591459/c_1/1|category_root|Photography|12109590/c_2/2|cat_12109590|Digital+cameras|12109607.htm?storeId=10001&referredURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.argos.co.uk%2Fstatic%2FProduct%2FpartNumber%2F5591459%2Fc_1%2F1%257Ccategory_root%257CPhotography%257C12109590%2Fc_2%2F2%257Ccat_12109590%257CDigital%2Bcameras%257C12109607.htm&jspStoreDir=argos&referrer=COJUN&cmpid=COJUN

It does not state IS for the lens BUT in the description it says:

Lens included with camera - EF-S 18-55 f/3.5-5.6IS
(note the IS at the end).

Is this the good lens? If yes then I should wait until they have this in stock.

How about this:

or this:

Also how much should I offer for a 3.5 month old one?

I appreciate the help :)

The first ebay item is not the IS version, cheaper getting non IS from Argos, with full UK warranty

The second ebay item, I'm probably being too cautious but I would be concerned that they are not showing a picture of the actual camera for sale and all their feedbacks seem to be for low price items, also 98.9% is not a great feedback rating

As far as the 3.5 month old one is concerned, It depends, how many images has it taken, what is included, box? condition? receipt? where was it purchased from? how trustworthy is the seller??

Hope you find what you are looking for,

Julie

I just got a 3 month and 19 days old one (originally purchased from Argos, includes the receipt) for £280.

This includes the IS lens and a small memory card.

Can't wait to receive it tomorrow!

Many thanks to everyone for the help and tips (especially regarding the IS lens) :)

I also got this bag for £8.99. This sells £39.99 at Dixon's, I hope it is not an imitation!:
