PET INSURANCE (Good news today 1/12/10 update.)

After a day of pacing up and down the Veterinary Specialists who operated on Fergus at 17-25 to let us know the results are back and the cultures show no sign of Cancer or anything else horrible, the pathologist was totally stumped as to what caused this.

The thinking is he swallowed a stick or shell which damaged some soft tissue and caused an infection which spread around his throat and lymph gland and was very progressive.
The prognosis is that he will either make a full recovery from this or that it might return at a later date if it has spread to other lymph glands or another area.

For now we just want him to get over the 2 operations and we will all enjoy a great Christmas and face what ever comes along after that.

We would like to thank everyone who has sent us there best wishes and it has been of great comfort to us.

I started this thread as I wanted to stress how important insurance for your pet is, to date the treatment Fergus has received in the last 5 weeks has been £4,750 and this will rise by another £400-£500 over the next few weeks with drugs, dressings and check up's.
Without insurance we would have lost our boy
If anyone is ever directed to see Prue Neath a leading soft tissue specialist, then please see her as she is fantastic to say the least.

This is a pic of Fergus recovering at home today.

my Boxer had a serious infection in her kidneys and the infection actually destroyed or 60% of them the vets bills came in at over 1200 luckily she was insured and then she had to have surgery last year to have some lumps removed again at a cost of over 700 so although the £26 we pay a month may seem alot to some people it saved me having to make some tough decisions as in reality how many people can afford to pay for these procedures

hope your dog makes a full and quick recovery

Quick update, Ferg is recovering well, visits to the vets and specialist on going, still on meds for another 8 days then when they finish we have to keep fingers crossed that no infection will return.
He is now wanting to get off the lead and run around but were are still 2 weeks away from that, the thing that is taking a long time to go away is the Seroma (build up of fluid in void where tumor was) it was the size of a melon now about the size of a tennis ball.
Christmas will be a better one now he is going to share it with us.
