Pollinators from a local Sunflower meadow

Haven't been out with the camera for ages, but spent a lovely couple of hours at a local Sunflower meadow earlier in the week. It was a bit blustery but the pollinators were out in force

Sunflowers make great hosts.

I'll grow more next year ( 1st year here) once the lavender starts to die back, there is still plenty of food.

We tried last year and they got eaten alive by the slugs unfortunately must try again next year...

Mine got absolutely battered, even to the point of some heads being chewed off full sized ones. with 20 +mm thick stalks
Nematodes helped, as did a nightly slug patrol and greased plastic sleeves, when they were young. But nothing was foolproof though.

Ours were a similar story, at least it's not just us!
