Hi all,

I was tempted to by an Ezybox Speedlite after seeing other's work with the soft box.

Happy to receive CC - this was the second proper outing.

I used a technique shared in this youtube video.
  1. Before the session I found my basic power output on my flash with the Ezybox Speedlite attached to flash.
  2. Test base ambient exposure with lightmeter.
  3. Test flash exposure with lightmeter.
  4. Adjust levels until the aperture was 30% less than ambient.
  5. Tweak to taste whilst shooting using shutter speed for ambient or aperture for light power
In practice this meant:
  1. set the flash on manual 1/32, an arm span away from the model (Yes - I actually measured with my arms).
  2. shutter speed 125 and let the light meter tell me what aperture to use e.g. f4
  3. used the light meter to check the flash out put was lower than the aperture e.g. f3.2
  4. If the light meter gave me an aperture over f4 I manually lowered the flash output to 1/64
The overall aim was to add fill light without being too flashy.

Obviously I'm still struggling with consistency, but felt much more in control than other sessions.

Wow these are very good for only your second try.

They all look good to me, but my favourite is no 3.

3 and 4 look very good.

The others I can't see the eye so maybe, IMO, they needed a little more power from the flash.

not sure on #2, she looks like she's accidentally walked into a bush. Would probably look better with her back to it.

#3 is the pick for me out of a wonderful set :)
