I think I just missed focus on the eye, and the quality of the lens makes it a bit soft anyway (EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 USM) but I am not unhappy with it

If you are in south west Wales the trip to Skomer is well worth it.

I would be very happy with it.
Difficult angle to get the eye as its in the shade

I have not done anything specific in processing, a bit of sharpening for screen happens during the export to flickr.

Sounds about right - same as what I'd normally use. Maybe worth trying F7.1 to get more of the bird's head in focus, but I can't talk, given the number of shots I did exactly the same with, on Skomer

Sharpness looks fine to me.
