Redpoll

Edit: I originally incorrectly identified these birds as linnets when in fact they are redpoll - see comments below.

A small flock of linnets have started feeding in my garden. They like the niger seed that I put out for the goldfinches.

Lovely shots Ken, they are deffo Lesser Redpoll though. Linnet don't have the black bib (or even any red plumage in winter) see my shot below.

Brilliant pictures, like the others say, they are Redpolls, in my honest opinion, even better than Linnets as they are harder and more scarcer to photograph!

Thank you all very much for the positive id. I had originally thought they might be redpoll but was put off when my book said they feed in tree tops whereas linnet are ground feeders. I had completely missed the black bib. I will change the title!
