This is Ryan Bennett. He's 18 and currently in the Britain Young Swimming Team, training for the 2012 Olympics.

I went along with a few planned photos in my head after doing my research on the pool. But when I got there he said we would only be in the training pool so a few photos went out the window. I did try to shoot as much as possible with just available light but I soon decided it was just to dark in there, either I had to shoot at very high ISO to get a shutter fast enough to freeze the action or use flash.

Personally I think the first 2 are the strongest images, the 3rd and 4th haven't got that certain something that 2 has, and 1 is a strong portrait, but i'm not sure about the focusing. nice set!

really like number 2, the googles in number 1 make him look a bit freeky though.

I like the lighting on his body on #1. A zoom out of that shot would look better imo

Thanks for the comments. The focus is sharp, I think its just the uploading has made it look very soft.

Like 2 the best also - what do you think about a tiny bit more crop on the right hand side to give improved Left/Right symetry and it will also get rid of that little light reflection top right?
