Looks to me like a groyne used to help prevent longshore drift.

In what way does this make you go off hdr ? , is it really that bad

I think composition wise the Groyne would look a lot better if the foreground part of it was to the left of the image and it lead into the right of the image, just think it would be more pleasing to the eye that way.

I have to agree good hdr is one where you cant tell its been used, this is close.
