Hi has anyone used the Sigma 180 f2.8 os macro as this looks a better option than 180 canon macro.

Yes, on a Nikon D800 and optically it is a very good lens.

George.

All macros are very sharp, but that Sigma is very, very sharp indeed. Unfortunately, it is also huge and heavy - bigger than a 70-200/2.8 zoom.

The 150 is a fine lens. I have issues with mine that I need to get sorted, the OS is acting up somehow, I can only assume it happened when it was in the bag and I knocked it off something, as it never got a knock in any other way during use. But it still works, I just leave the OS off until I sort it. It seems an ideal length for macro, the lens is neat and tidy for a 150, not very heavy and is also great for portraiture. I eyed up the 180 too before choosing. Figured a 150 would be more useful for general shooting besides just macro.

It's now looking like early December at the earliest for delivery into my dealer.
I think this is one lens where there is a strong case for buying direct from the usual HK suspects - both for availability and price.
Even my dealer concedes that Sigma shipments are sporadic at best - even Sigma UK does not know when it will receive stock.

not knowing sales numbers I suspect sigma is managing capacity and demand at the moment

Delayed yet again - unlikely now for this year.....

I understand that this is a specialist lens but can't understand how Sigma UK do not know when they will receive stock......

Thanks Gary.
Unfortunately I have a long-standing order with another supplier that I'm not in a position to cancel.
Have to just wait it out.
