Could I get some thoughts on these please?

I am not sure which I should consider, if either.....

I don't need the macro function, I am simply after a better replecment to my 18-55mm kit lens. I have a tamron 70-300 already so i need something for below 70mm.
 
i have the 24-70 F/2.8 EX DG macro...and it's a very good lens IMO if you get a good copy,sharp wide open,great bokeh etc....but i've found it lacking in width at the short end[on a cropped sensor],so i've bought an 18-50 to replace it with.i'm now considering selling it as i can't see me using it much now,with my next lens being a 70-200,i don't think i'll miss the 20mm between the 2 lens,and don't see the point of keeping the 24-70 just for that...

I'd love the pentax you stated Mike.P but budget won't allow it right now!

The reason I asked about those two was because Jessops were selling them at silly prices but surprise surprise, no stock!!

Ah well!
