siskin on blossom...

That is a good pose and pov Mark showing some fine detail. Interesting to note that single feather on the wing, similar to that of the Blackcaps. Do you have any info on that Mark? As it is not something that is seen on all birds.

Nice one Mark, that blossom provides a great setting for the bird.

no mate..when i first saw it, i thought it was one out of place..but it doesn't seem to be....mark

That is what my thoughts were as well Mark, however I managed to find out that some birds have either 3 4 or five of these. They are called alula or ******* feathers, they are tucked in tight and lay flat for flight but are extended out when flying slowly to prevent stalling, I assume then that the Blackcap and Siskin have two more of these feathers underneath.

Apparantly TP will not allow me to call them by there other name which is Bustard feathers  Also worth noting the description for this Glider at the top of the page http://www.dream-flight.com/alula.html
