Having a fiddle around, do you think these work OK? What could be done to improve them?

Nice shots! Like #1, especially the eyes, nice & sharp

Not much to do to improve them but if being picky then could crop #1 so the same amount of arm is cropped off both sides. With #2 could have tried with your son further in front of the wall to throw the wall out of focus.

Both great, but #1 for me. I agree with Rudesing though, maybe try cropping arms to be same amount cropped, or maybe crop with more space on the right to give him room to 'go into'. Dunno if that would work.

Had to nail him to the wall in no 2 Rudesing, only way I could get him still, I get what you mean though.

Hav re cropped the first one to make it more even and adjusted the contrast
