Beginner Some birds from this morning (north east coast)

Try to get the subject with a clean uncluttered background Stew they have far more impact.

No1 is my favourite

I don't always follow the maxim of the plain background as I like to see the birds in some form of context. It just depends on what you want to portray.
So, for e.g. i really like #2 and #3. But #4 is neither one thing nor the other and the 'stick' in the b/g spoils the shot IMO.
Having said that the shots have lots of detail and lovely colours (y)
You can't go much wrong with looking at the shots on the forum, particularly the avocets of Les.

Hi, Like you I am not long into photographing birds and the use of Sony gear so take what I say with a pinch of salt.
The 4th image IMO is the better of the set as you can see the catch light in the eye and I believe this is important in ALL forms of human and animal images I feel it makes an image stand out, as far as photographing birds I am finding fences, wires and other man made perches detract from an image better on a branch or low down shots for water but all JMO. For advice on settings with the Sony I looked at two people on Youtube (1) https://www.youtube.com/c/MarkSmithphotography/featured and (2) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCd333V2AbeUItnE_fO1zRtA
