It's a decent shot, but for me there is too much steam covering the loco itself and thus leaving the shot without enough interest. Sorry.

I like it Dave. I think if you were taking it into the light which is maybe why the front of the train is in shadow, perhaps a little fill light wouldve brightened the front up somewhat??

As a steam rail photographer I love all that steam because it gives life to the shot and stops it being just a record shot,you have coped with that contrasty lighting really well

Yes, quite agree! Shows the engine alive, as we all know they are!!:shrug:

Just enough steam for me. Its what makes a steam train look alive, like a fire breathing monster and I like the way its on the turntable so not in line with the rails
