Nice idea, but could be improved IMHO by...
1) Shooting from a lower view point, adding some background interest ideally
2) Central compositions rarely work, they don't here
3) The exposure isn't balanced, the shadows are dark

I think #1 is a gorgeous image... The white balance is off though... looks a little blue. You might want to decrease the "clarity" of the image to help enhance the lighting effect that you are going for too.

Something like this maybe?
