I decided to put this in people because it's really the guy's expression that forms the focus of these for me. However I'm not really sure they have much punch or lasting interest but I'm not sure exactly why or if I should just write them off.

I like them, I don't think you should write them off.
They have a great Documentary or photo journalistic feel to them.

I like the first one best.

I'd crop really close to the man above and left. To give more of an appearance of him being iunder threat. Boost the highlights a bit too so he stands out more.

If you have more space to the right of bull that'd be good too, as it would infere he'd come from somewhere too.
