Apologies for the repetitive behavior.

I used these Tangerines as a stand in before the Viennese Whirls were baked.

In retrospect I quite liked them so thought I would put them up here for feedback. Previous critique as been great.

Any feedback would be most welcomed.

Very nice Gary- love the lighting - A tad too central for my taste - but still a lovely image mate

Les :)

Tangerines against the dark wood and background work well.
I think that I would have turned the one middle left slightly to avoid seeing the mark on the skin and maybe position the leaves on the right of the stand to receive a little more light?

Cheers for the feedback just what I need. Hadn't noticed the mark these details are so easily missed.

Maybe consider one of them peeled/part peeled... it can add a certain something...
Hi Mark.

Had not thought of that but will try it being as these are often sold as easy peelers so I would have the title too.

Thanks for the link some great textures to be had showing the inside. Your very good at this genre. Not doing anymore ?

We are having a new Kitchen so set up is gone but I will set something up again asap.

Thanks

you wouldn't believe how difficult peeling that lemon in a spiral was, that was the third attempt, and basically involved removing the peel with a scalpel, then a secondary peel (again with the scalpel) to show the juice cells of the citrus fruit below.

As to my not shooting this stuff anymore.... well - I used to sort of specialise in things best thought of as Vanitas recreations... the whole "momento mori" thing. Then I had a couple of life reminders myself, first my Dad died, and as I was a full time carer for him, I had to get my arse out and get a job, so couldn't dedicate the amount of time needed to build some of these creations. Then if that wasn't bad enough - i'd a 13 year hole in my CV where I'd been looking after my parents, so returning to the world of IT was a no-go, so I decided to go into Accounts office work (as i'd been supporting that kind of thing anyway and knew it inside out) - but after my first couple of 3 month temp jobs I promptly had a heart attack, and was another 18 months unable to work. Basically, I'd had a couple of brushes with death, that meant I didn't want to be "mentally consumed" by "momento mori", so I've kind of turned my back on that style for now... Most other "tabletop" stuff just calls up memories of shooting advertising stuff that was the "second job" as a weekend warrior photographer in the 1990's. I'm trying at the moment to get back into photography a bit, but the only thing that's interesting me at the moment is photographing watches, and, frankly i'm limited by not having a decent macro lens, and also by looking at other peoples work on here and thinking "well, mine's bloody crap in comparison, can't be bothered showing it until i raise my game substantially" It's a confidence thing, mainly because I've barely raised a camera to my eye for the past 6 years or more other than at the occasional sporting event. Maybe i'll take some time off soon and spend a week just practicing until i've something fit to actually post on here.

That's funny you should mention that. I was thinking about how one might peel the fruit in that way, after all you gotta thing about something whilst skimming walls day in and day out.......

A task that at first sight seems easy but in practice is very difficult " peeling of the fruit that is "

I may have to mither you for guidance ;-)

Well Mark you do seem to have had quite a tough few years I can't imagine how difficult this time has been.

It is difficult posting images up on here as like you say you see so many amazing images up on the forum.

I look forwards to seeing some of your macro shots when you feel ready to show them

Thanks for your help on my images.

It all looks pretty good to me.
The light on the Tangerines looks really nice, the light on the background i think would benefit from being toned down a touch and being made a little wider. At the moment, to my eyes it looks a little narrow. But having said that, that's being a little nit picky.

Hi Dominic

Thanks for the feedback it's much appreciated and very helpful.

I'm still finding hard to see the litlle details that other forum users can pick up on this is not just on my own images either.

No you have mentioned it I see that the background would have been better " I think " a tad wider and most likely not at such a steep angle.
